Upstairs at the Bothy is home to Folk at the Salmon Bothy, a group of keen musicians and artists with an interest in traditional folk genres, who love to get together to perform songs, tunes and recite stories.

Folk at the Salmon Bothy holds regular open mic nights at the Salmon Bothy.  Taking place on the 3rd Friday of each month, doors open at 7pm for 7.30pm start.   Entry costs £5 and includes tea & coffee.  All very welcome to perform songs, poems, tunes and stories – not just folk related, diversity is encouraged. Those who wish to join us to sit and listen are equally welcome to come along.

Ocassionally, extended sets are undertaken by Professional/Semi Professional Performers, however all performers are guaranteed a minimum of two songs/tunes etc.

Folk at the Salmon Bothy also hosts an annual HAAL, a weekend of songs, tunes, poems, dance, stories, workshops, sessions and sing arounds in and around Portsoy.  For full details of the events and visiting musicians and artists join the next HAAL, visit the dedicated website.
